I saw on the internet that actress Lisa Blount passed away. The article said she had ITP for 17 years.

It actually sounds like a heart attack according to her complaints. It's a gossip article, so let's not take it at face value just yet until we see something more credible. If it was ITP, her own mother didn't seem to know a lot about it.

Very sad news, my sympathies to her family. I know your worried for your son farida because of the these reports that say the mother thinks ITP could have contributed to her death, it does not mean your son will die from it. Most people with ITP live a long and happy life, so try not to stress too much about it.

Pain in back and neck related to ITP? Suffering from a condition similar to MS? How does that all relate to ITP? Since when are MS and ITP similar? Where did these "reporters" get their information? The articles really leave something out.

OMG - No disrespect intended to the grieving mother, who may not know such things, but lots of dead folks have purple marks. It's called livor mortis, and it's where the blood, no longer circulating, stands still (stasis) and pools in the dependent portion of the body. Whichever side is down will be purple. A purple mark on a dead body does not indicate a hemorrhage. As for the "similar to MS" remark, I guess we'll just note the ignorance of the press. I suppose ITP and MS are similar if you note that they are both thought (by some, in some cases) to be autoimmune disorders.

Norma - I was going to say that, but didn't want to get gory. You said it very well. I think she probably had other issues - she's had surgeries, etc. Probably not entirely ITP.

it really goes to show you that you shouldn't pay any attention to what the media writes about disease, nutrition, supplements etc. the only two people you should listen to abouy your body are your doctor and yourself. plus, you also have the right to not listen to your doctor either, if that is your choice. in my case, i was diagnosed with diabetes and itp (count of 9), in 2001. i refused meds for diabetes and use insulin, and refused treatment for itp. also refused high blood pressure meds and cholesteral meds. now, i could drop dead tomorrow, but in the 10 years since diagnosis, have not spent 2 minutes in the hospital and no symptoms of anything.
(climbing down from soapbox now).
