I'm 55, I have had ITP forever. My average platelet count is 50,000, with corresponding low ferritin levels. I still have my spleen, but the gallbladder is gone. My average blood pressure is low - 98/65, 26 BMI, yet have sky high cholesterol ... oh and I'm depressed. The only meds i take is cymbalta. I was taking a statin for a few months but the alp and ggt liver enzymes went off the charts. I used to be part of an outpatient hematology clinic, however my appointments became every six months, then I stopped going when that became 12 months. Here in Australia, well the Perth side, itp hardly registers a blip on the radar in my own experience. Yes I bruise easily, get tired easily at the best of times, etc .. come down with anything going .. luckily I've had a lifetime of this. If I wore the brightest colors, would I be noticed??

Your count seems good and safe, your blood pressure is perfect. If it were me I'd pick something to sort out. I'd probably go for the ferritin first because anaemia will cause tiredness and depression. When that's sorted you can see what's left. I wouldn't worry about the ITP though as your count is fine.

If it makes you feel any better, no one would do anything here in the U.S. for a stable count of 50k either. Monitoring is all that is really needed.

I've had low ferritin a few times and just take some ferrous sulfate for a while and it gets better. I just buy it over the counter. Your doctor should have suggested something, but they usually won't if the level isn't too low.

I'd work on the cholesterol. That seems to be the worst problem.

If Cymbalta isn't helping with the depression, maybe you should try a different med or maybe go for therapy. Those are things that you can discuss with your doctor.
