Trying to figure out what all of this means... I had my first hemo appointment last week. Slowly but surely all of my lab results are trickling in... My blood smear was perfect. No blasts, normal RBC and normal appearance and number of platelets. My count was 69 but MPV was 10.6 Does this mean my bone marrow is functioning well? I also had an ultrasound on my spleen and liver yesterday, and I am really worried about the results from that.

As I recall from my Hematologist comments from a few years ago. Usually if bone marrow has an issue it will pop up problematic (smear or out of range value) at least sporadically after having several CBC tests over time. She didn't mention over how long a period, nor did I ask. So, probably a good question for your doctor. With a 69 count, while you watch and wait?

Did you get an 'ANA' (antinuclear antibodies) test? If one digs deeply into that test, you should find it is an indicator of current Epstein Barr virus activity. It is believed to be what causes that antibody.

10.6 is a normal MPV count.
