Caitlin's solo performance was created by tacmom
Here is why we have to treat, lol! She does this same stuff with 20+ girls on the same floor, all who are between the ages of 13-19. Caitlin wore a bead (from her Beads of Courage necklace) on her shoe for another girl who has ITP and is unable to do this sport anymore due to counts continuously in the single digits despite many treatments. Here is what she is able to do, thanks to Nplate!

Treatments tried: IVIG (doesnt work), Prednisone (sometimes works with high doses), Nplate (2 years on it-worked, but had to be taken off due to...

Whoa! She's amazing! All those back flips made me dizzy, just watching. I think it'd be a bit scary to watch, ITP or not, if I were her mom. Good thing the Nplate is helping. I've got to say, cheerleading's a bit different from way back when I was in Junior High. Cartwheels and splits and an occasional pyramid...

Oh my goodness, how good is she. Cheerleading is certainly something you would need to be in shape for. I loved watching this, we don't have cheerleading in Australia so it was so good to see.

Thanks! I cant say it is easy to watch but I do feel better when she has counts at 100 or higher due to the flips she does. She has a lot of control over her tumbling and is very experienced so she knows when something is going to go wrong. Even during her solo, she had planned to do a double, but knew she did not have enough power so she threw a full instead. She is going to do this same routine again next weekend but with some changes based on critiques from the judges.

Look at her go! You must be so proud!

I'd be in traction for a year if I tried that!

LOL Sandi!! Yes, I am really proud of her determination to push herself to do the best she can. I just wish she'd slow down at times. She is really in pain after her practices and it is because she overdoes it! She has to do the routine again this weekend and added some harder skills so she pushed herself to do 3 full run-throughs after a 3 hour team practice last night. Her ankles were very swollen so she soaked them in Epsom salt last night. I am sure she will want to go right back at it after I pick her up from school! (I am going to make her rest rather than take her to the gym and she will be angry with me, but she's got to give her body a break!)

Is she still on Plaquenil?

Yes she is still on Plaquenil. Rheumatologist said due to an increase in antibodies (she did not say which ones), she would stay on Plaquenil for a while. I think unless she has some side effects to the Plaquenil, she will stay on. She seems completely fine on them. I don't think she has a single side effect. She does go for an eye exam in a few weeks because they said to do it every 6 months in children.

I usually go for the eye exam every six months too. That was what was recommended. I have not had any problems with Plaquenil either...I've been on it for over 6 years. I wish all my scripts were that easy!
