Nplate - side effects was created by Shubhreta@gmail.com
Hi ,

My 7 year old daughter has been on nplate for a year now. Last week I saw blood in her urine . Got her urine culture done ( came out negative no UTI infection) her Cbc was done and platelets were 323k. No other symptom she is perfectly fine no rash no fever no abdominal pain. A little more information when took her to the ER they did her pee test twice and there was no trace of any blood in the urine.

I have recently started giving her probiotic curd and apart from that she takes vitamin c supplement . The only thing I could think of is I gave her cherries to eat the day this happened and she didn't drink much fluid that day could that have led to her reddish urine? Can this be nplate side effect?

Some foods can cause urine to change color. I don't think cherries do though unless they were dyed. That happened to me once when I ate beets. Did she eat any candy with red dye or any other food?

If it only happened once and she has been checked for blood and infection and feels fine, I wouldn't worry about it. If it happens again, you'd need to investigate more.

Thanks for your input Sandi.
I could not think of any dyed food that she had. Only give her fresh cut fruits....

Once when my daughter was younger her urine was a pinkish color - as I got over my surprise I remembered she had eaten beets for dinner the night before. I had never seen that before but everything was negative also so it had to have been the cause.
