Meet Lilly
Lilly (age 5) was diagnosed with ITP in March 2025. While we hoped she would have a quick recovery like a lot of kids her age, we have yet to see that happen. Those first months were really scary, with weekly ER visits when she would hit her head or have a bad nose bleed that wouldn’t stop. Everything we tried would help for a week or two, but then her platelets would drop again.
Through this, we’ve used a phrase that a nurse gave us early on: "being brave means you're scared and you do it anyway." Through it all, Lilly was far braver than we could expect her to be. She’s now on a daily medicine that is keeping her ITP under control, but she still has episodes.
Just this week Lilly had to go to the hospital twice due to low platelets and a head bump. Her kindergarten teacher notified us that Lilly told her classmates about it and that they were all telling her how brave she must be to go through all of that. I started crying when I saw that.
I don't know what her future holds, but we have a medicine that's working and a great medical team around us. Most of us, we have a brave ITP Warrior in Lilly ❤️ - Meredith, Lilly's Mom
