Good Evening All!

It looks I will indeed get my right knee operated on in a couple of weeks. I am set to get IVIG on Saturday and Sunday (had to pull a few strings for that one!). If I respond as before I will have the surgery on Friday September 6. I am planning on being out and about the day after and back to work on Monday. While I am getting my IVIG this weekend if any one would like to chat just let me know! This is all pending on insurance approval and the like. I have requested Kate Upton as my nurse. It is probably a long shot but hey! you never know! And as before, yes I am that shallow! :)

If the surgery goes as well as my left one did I should be back running some 10k races by Thanksgiving.

I would also like to tell you all that your input and information has made me a pretty knowledgeable patient. I thank you all from the very bottom of my heart..... Without your help here and the sharing of information I might not have been able to get this done. Running and triathlons, are about all the hobbies that I have left now. It makes me smile that I may get a few more races and tri's in. I am really not that good, I just love to do it! It is about the completion of the challenge.

A few of you know that I wear a bracelet everyday that says "NEVER GIVE UP". Don't!

And, if you care to plan ahead, my birthday is next month! hahahahahahaha

Well when I have my hand surgery on the 4th I'm asking for Mark Harmon, I go for the older guys. But I think both you and I will have to hallucinate for our requests to come true.

Now look - you behave yourself and don't push. Do what the doctor says so you can be running some races by Thanksgiving. I always think of my neighbor who had a hip replacement and was out riding his bike about a week later, new hip failed and he later ended up having to do that surgery all over again.

Know you will do great!

Good luck with that, Jeffrey!

Don't push yourself after surgery, give it time to heal. And no, still not up for cleaning your house  :P

UPDATE!

As of this afternoon, the surgery is off. I cannot get the IVIG over the weekend as I thought I could. To get the IVIG for surgery I would have to miss 2 additional days of work which with my new job I cannot do, not to mention they do not know I have ITP. I just do not want to cross that bridge right now with them. I really like this job and I don't want the ITP to cost me this job like it did the last one.

I have tried to tug a few strings this afternoon to see if I can get favor at the hospital. I should know tomorrow if it is going to happen or not. I want to run but most of all I would like to walk with a limp or pain. And, I was really looking forward to seeing Kate Upton! LOL

Thank you all for the kind wishes. It is nice to have you all here for support. Sometimes I just wonder in amazement as how this all happened, the ITP and such. What a hot mess! LOL But you know, it will all work out, we will all go forward, and we will all have good days and hopefully just a few not so good ones, and we will all be friends for a long time! I will probably not have Kate Upton for a nurse, and Melinda will not have Mark Harmon bringing her tea! LOL

Maybe Julie (Winnifred) will make ma a cheesecake!

I will keep you all posted! (about the cheesecake!)

Well that is good news! Glad you were able to work it out so you can get back to being yourself.

My dog had doggy knee surgery on Tuesday. The vet said she would be back to chasing squirrels by December. But she is out now attempting to chase them on 3 legs and dragging the bandaged one along.

Dru, good luck to you with your dog! Those squirrels [Skippy is what my granddaughter calls them] know she isn't up to par so they are going to have a ball bugging her.

Good Evening!

I have one more approval to get from the insurance and I am good to go. They will not do the surgery in the out patient surgery area due to my ITP. They want to do it where they have blood available. WHAT???? Do I need a new doc??? LOL It will be done in a full surgical room. What a deal! If Kate Upton post looking for me please alert me! Thanks in advance! LOL

Dru, maybe me and your dog can hang out and chase cars together! Dru if you run low, I can send you prednisone! Just thinking of you!

Good Evening Everyone!

IVIG tomorrow and Sunday! I really know how to live on the weekend! My surgeon told me he needed to read up on ITP. Ok, I agree doc! I am his first ITP mission.. Should I be nervous? LOL
I did give him some instructions (these are true);
Leave early on Wednesday (My surgery is Thursday)
Have a nice dinner.
Do not mow the lawn or be around power equipment. Save the hands!
Get a massage.
Have a little wine before bed and go to be early. Rest well!
When you get up, have coffee.
Practice on the one ahead of me!
When it is my time, slow down, take your time. Recheck your work! LOL
He left me shaking his head....
Hey! Just trying to help!

Anyway, I am all approved and ready to go. What a production. Funny thing is the knee feels better than it has in a month! Still sore but I am not limping as bad. I am ready to get it fixed.

It has been amazing to me the level that they are going to at the hospital for this. It has reminded me that I do have ITP. Oh well! And as Linda Ellerbee used to say, "And so it goes!"
Jack, I know you will remember her.

I will bring you a report from the hospital tomorrow. I will be fairly close to the ER in a special area. That be interesting!

And why didn't you give me those Surgeon Instructions before I saw my surgeon ?!

Glad all is going well! Remember, Kate Upton isn't going to show up for measly IVIg - it's the recovery room where she works, once you're hallucinating due to the pain meds.

Of course your knee isn't going to hurt much right now, you have surgery scheduled. I told my husband the other day that my thumb didn't hurt as much, well surgery is scheduled :)

Jack, what are you having done to your knee? Not a TKR, right? I have a bum knee they tell me is horrible, but it never bothers me unless I am walking on loose sand for over an hour. Three years ago they told me I would need a TKR pretty soon. They don't know everything. Although the ten pounds I gained on Prednisone may put it over the edge.

Good Evening Everyone!

Well superman has been hit with green kryptonite! I feel like CRAP, headache (almost migraine level), fever, and stomach is very queasy. Headache comes and goes. I am not a happy camper, it hit me after I left the hospital. Looks like classic side effects. I did not have them the first time I had IVIG. Any thoughts anyone?

I have a torn meniscus, hammer tear, and a possible tear in the MCL (medial tendon), some bone chips, possible plateau fracture, and some bone chips with the level 3 arthritis. It is exactly the same as my left knee 3 years ago. It hurts! At times it feels like there is a hot coal in it and other times it feels like the worse bruise you ever had. But it is repairable and that is good.

I am heading to bed very soon. I am sorry I did not address everyone but I just feel like sh--!
