Groucho, from what I've seen around here, those that respond to steroids do best (better consistency and response) when the Promacta dose is the same each day. When alternating doses come into play, instead of counts being an intermediary fraction, it seems counts will tend closer to the lower of the two doses. That is in your case, a 75/50 split may yield counts similar to just taking 50 everyday. Further, a 75/75/50 split might do a better job at getting counts just under 96. Things can change though.
