It will pass. That's the light at the end of the tunnel. But it's miserable in the meantime. I remember well!

Does everyone's platelet numbers crash after coming off? I just found out yesterday I was at 6,000. I had my spleen out in September and my numbers dropped back down from there. I've been maintaining around 20 -30,000 since. But I've been keeping them up by using Promacta and was at 30 mg of prednisone once they started to drop. My doctor started my on cyclosporin about a month ago and started to taper me off the prednisone. I took my last 10 mg does a week ago. I didn't realize that there would be withdraw pains when coming off of them. I had back, knee and wrist pains and headaches.
Now I have to worry about the extra low counts again and trying to build them back up.

THanks sandi! I have decided that I am going to get a second opinion! My hemo has done a few things that from what I read aren't the best

from what I have read it all depends everyone is different

ptschuma - no, everyone does not crash when coming off of Prednisone. Some people maintain counts if they are responsive to Prednisone, on it for more than a few weeks and taper slowly.

Chels - a second opinion is probably a good idea. It sure couldn't hurt!

I have a second opinion scheduled for dec.23rd!!! Not that I think my doc is wrong but I just wanna make sure this is best care I can get and he understands what I want
