Lowest count 1. Highest count 207 (ivig) Indium scan showed predominantly splenic destruction. No meds currently, just seeing how things go.

Trying to deal with the pain, pain meds are weak. Have to go Tuesday for cbc, Thursday for Iron and sometime at the end of week to surgeon to pull drain and take bandages off.

One of the hema told me that sometimes, Promacta and nplate works better if you don't have your spleen...so hopefully, Promacta will be more effective for you this time around.

It's the other way around. You generally need higher doses without a spleen so don't give up if the lower doses don't work.

Yeah I'm thinking the doctor will put me back on the higher dose today, I just feel like counts are down. No symptoms

360k today will see her again same time next week. The new doctor was awesome so nice, she re did iron test and went ahead and had me start iron with C (since my leg cramps are back) . The C is to help with side effects of iron.

All around great news! I'm glad the iron is figured out. That was scaring me because my friend has had extremely low iron levels and ended up in hospital for transfusions and iron injections. I was thinking oh great amber really doesn't need that. I'm also glad you have a new doc. At the conference they talked about how treatments can sometimes work after splenectomy if they hadn't in past. I think your case is seeming to back up that theory.. I think you are on 50 mg on Promacta?

  • I developed hemolytic anemia in 1999 and ITP in 2005. Treatments have been splenectomy, prednisone, IVIG, and Rituxan.
