  • My platelet count began to drop in 2013 and reached 26k in 2019. My hematologist gave me corticosteroid taper, Nov 2019, but platelets dropped to 20k and I received IVIG. Later I began Promacta (25mg) and platelets are range between 100-140k.

Saw my hema last week and he didn't see a need for the test, but said he would if I wanted. I think it's pretty clear now that if you have a compromised immune system you will need the 3rd dose. For me, that'll be early in 2022.

KittieG, Did your platelet level drop to 16 this week or the week after your second jab in April? Which vaccine did you receive. It would appear I am one of the fortunate ones. I had no droppage in my platelet level after either Pfizer jab back in March. Im about to get the third booster any day now in fact.

As soon as it became available to me, I discussed it with my hematologist and I scheduled my appointment. I received both Pfizer injections. Before the first dose, my platelets were 59, a high for me. After, around 2 weeks later, I had a nosebleed. This very well could’ve been from the frequent nose blowing from my allergies, but I got checked anyways. My levels were 49, which also could’ve been just the regular ups and down of my pattern. There is a risk of platelets dropping with every vaccine, but it is one we choose to take to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
