Hi All,
I just had a blood test today and my platelets are down to 28. Previously they hovered closer to 50. My doc doesn't treat (prednisone) unless I dip below 20. The last time I got down this low was in September 2016. I can't help but feel panicked like it is unsafe for me to be out in the world when I got this low. Has anyone else had experiences with the ups and downs? I feel very alone as I don't know anyone else with ITP!

How are your symptoms? Try not to panic. I have rarely ever heard of anyone having problems being out in the world with low counts. Even the few who have had accidents (such as falling) have been okay. Your counts are still close to the safe zone of 30k.

Try not to panic. If you are not actively bleeding carry on your life as normal. My count always drops at the slightest hint of a cold. I've worked with counts as low as 2 without any ill effects.
When I was planning my Australia holiday I asked my Haemo what was the lowest count to be safe to go. She said anything above zero.

Kelly, once upon a time there was a guy here named 'weirdjack'. In one post he described the psychology of ITP with amazing clarity. See what you think:

Help, stop this crazy thing.
