Ok I've had itp for eight years tried it all the last year I've been on ivig but is now only lasting about a week but I got my period on the 8th of this month it lasted up until the 16th it was normal for me super heavy and sucked but last night I stood up n a huge blood clot came out and since them I've probably had about 15 the size of my palm some a little bigger but bleedong very heavy also like im on my period again has anyone ever had this? Thanks for any input I know kinda gross

Yes, oddly, I had clots when my counts were low. I never understood why. I asked my hemo and he joked and said "frogs". I took that to mean he wasn't concerned.

I've had it's before but never this bad my dr sent me to er my hemoglobin at 6 and platelets at 3

I also experienced clots with my platelets were low. Strange, but true. My period was the WORST right before I was diagnosed with ITP. It was extremely heavy and long lasting. Now, I know that was due to having virtually no platelets, but hindsight is 20/20.

Are you on birth control? That helped me greatly -- even when my platelets were low.

I've also heard of other women on different medicines that actually stop their period, which also seems like it would help with your situation.

I hope it gets better for you! That time of the month is bad enough without all of the complications that low platelets add to it!

Hi no I'm not on birth control I had a stroke a year ago due to nplate and I'm now in nplate again so drs will not put me on birth control when I bleed like that the gynecologist gives me megesterol and the bleeding stops within two days
