Was curious if anyone knew if stopping the steroids could affect your period - I haven't had a period since march 17!

I stopped the steroids and all other medications about one month ago, and now I seem to have no period.

FYI - I did take a test, and no, I'm not pregnant.

At least I better not be.

Kittie - yes, that is common. It happened to me. It will start again, and you may be irregular for a while. It's okay.

It really blows my mind how many changes that medicine makes to the body - and never really gave me the one GOOD change (of higher platelets)!

My period was two weeks late while on Prednisone, and my next period, (when I went off pred) was about five days early. Both my Hematologist and the Pharmacist said that irregularities are a common side effect.

And yes, it is remarkable how much it changes your body :S

KittieG- your platelets are still very low?

Phew...I'm so glad to hear that you all are having/ had the same thing happen with your periods. I just came off of the steroids 4 weeks ago, and I haven't had a period since March, and it lasted 7 days while I was in the hospital. I've been worried that it won't come back, but I'm glad to hear it will, eventually. :) I'll just enjoy not having it for now. :)

Daniela - I don't know what my numbers are right now. I got them checked on 4/27 and they were 17k. I like to pretend they are still that now!

Kittie-With such a low number, it's probably a good thing that your period has been absent.

I hope that your counts go up soon and that you can get off of the steroids. Best wishes!

Daniela. - I'm happy to say that I am off the steroids now - have been for about a month or so now. it's been great.

And my period finally came back. I never thought I'd be happy to have a period, but it's just another sign of normalcy, so it was like the return of an old friend. It was a little heavier, but nothing crazy or noteable.
