I breastfed with no issues. As far as I know the causes of this disorder are not contagious through bodily fluids. As a side note my platelet count actually went up during my pregnancy. It went from my normal 40 to 50 thousands to 90 thousand so I hope she experiences this too! I don't know what your daughter plans as far as pain management but they would not give me an epidural even at 90thou. Looking back I regret not meeting with the staff involved so that they could consider my case individually. I wish your daughter & grandchild a safe and healthy delivery!

I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and have planned to do IVIG at 36 weeks and steriods for 2 weeeks to get my counts up for delivery. I want the option of drugs and they wont do it unless my counts are above 100. So I have spoken to both my doctors (hema and OB) they have agreed on the treatment, and it is very safe for the baby. The neonatologist will make the final determination as to when to induce. they want to make sure my counts are high enough. why cant she do IVIG? Does she not respond? Some of the steriods will pass thorugh the breast milk but if shes only on it short term there really shouldnt be a problem. If its just a pulse...I would think. Has she spoken to the hema...is there a reason she cannot try winrho? Sorry just throwing ideas out as to options. They (the doctors) would not do anything that is harmful to the baby. My counts currenlty sit at 40. Hoping for a safe delivery for your daughter and grandchild.
