natural treament

Has anyone tried eating celery to boost platlets?
I ate a chopped celery salad every night for about 2 weeks and went in for a blood test..my platlets came up from 75 to 140 in just 2 weeks. I then didn't eat celery regularly for several months and when I had my blood tested my platlets were down to 32 so I went home and ate the celery with ranch dressing for about 8 days and went back in for another blood test. My platlets were up to 88. I don't know id this is a coincidence or if the celery has helped that much but am going to experiment with it to see if it does help. I sure hope it does as it a much easier treatment than steroids ect. I have been dignosed with ITP for well over 20 years and had my spleen out shortly after as my platlets were down in the 20's and nothing seemed to help. My platlets ran from 75-112 for a very long time, then a few months ago they started dropping again for some reason. I will write here again with the results of my experiment.

If you're looking at natural therapies I would encourage you to read some of the threads on homeopathy. It's been very successful for us and a couple of other folks on this board that I know of. You can also post any questions you have about it after reading. There's at least a few of us still around that can answer them for you.

Yes! celery does have good results on platelets,here in Puerto Rico, when some comes down with Dengue fever, one of the things that people use and are recomended is celery and fresh orange juice to raise platelets and of course anamu and plantago.

This thread has prompted me to start adding more celery into my diet.
I wonder what qualities it has? I have read many times that it has been used as a remedy for arthritis. I wonder if it has much Vit K which is needed for clotting and is usually found in leafy greens - not sure if celery could pass as a leafy green.
What I find interesting is that celery in our area is the one vegetable that I prefer to not be organic. Organic celery in our area is soo stringy.

Oh my goodness! The celery theory rocks my socks. My count dropped (I got sick) and I was covered in red dots... so I started eating "Ants on a Log" everyday.. and bada boom! 31! Highest it's been in a year. Rock on. I know it's temporary.. but hey, it's good to know! I'm sick again with a cold right now.. and again counts are down.. so I've upped the celery to counter it. And I LOVE Ants on a Log.. nom nom nom nom nom nom.

Ants on a log is celery stuffed with peanut butter that is studded with raisins. The raisins are the ants.

Yeah.. like Erica said. Although, I use Almond Butter.. and sometimes mash a bit of banana in it as well. Yum yum yum.

I've also seen it with cream cheese instead of peanut butter. I like cream cheese in celery and sprinkled with garlic salt and paprika, I use a soy cream cheese.
