I was thinking about trying a little of it and seeing if my platelets increase. I asked my hematologist and he said, well, "It will not hurt your platelets" and advised there are not even studies proving whether is works or not.

IM taking CBD oils now (2-3 drops just before bed) so far been waking up feeling amazing.

i've been a farily regular marij. user for pretty much past 5 years, (once -> twice a week) although i stopped for about a month before this ITP issue surfaced, but im considering to slowly ease back into occasional usage again.

Hi pattilustig! I've had ITP for 17 years now and just recently in the last year become a steady cannabis user and it's been very recent I even thought about it and paying attention to my platelet counts. I can tell you that since being diagnosed to ever be over 100,00 in counts was only when doing some sort of treatment which included high doses of Prednisone, Gamma Gobulin and Platelet transfusions. Also several Rituxan treatments, in what finally keep my platelet levels steady in the 40,000 to 70,000 range 4 years after being diagnosed having some issues and treatments here and there. Last Spring 2017 I had my first 100,000 reading (treatment free for five years) and been using marijuana steadily for several months at that reading. I just today had my first blood draw since then and I am at 110,000! I'm am so hoping more research can be done on this. I am a true believer!

Very encouraging! I'm curious what your use of marijuana looks like for the past several months? Are you working with medical marijuana of some sort? I am considering going to a clinic now that it is legal for medical purposes in Florida.

I have also just started looking into MM for ITP but couldn't find any information even anecdotal. I know there are almost zero studies done on MM since it's Federally illegal. I have seen one or two posts here under CBD OIL that indicated it did not help increase platelets. I suspect one would need a combo of THC and CBD. I would love to hear from anyone with experience.

Marijuana is being legalized in many states for medical usage, but ITP is not on the list. A few states have legalized it with no medical requirement. IF I were going to consider using marijuana medically for any reason, I would not ever buy it off of the street. The synthetics that are put into it these days are terrifying.

I agree with Sandi. Never, never buy off the street. We are talking about MEDICAL here. You need a formula specifically for you and the ingredients must be lab tested. This "market" is about to explode with more and more states legalizing both Medical and Recreational Marijuana. ALSO always be aware it is illegal to transport even MM across state lines so you can't buy it in VT and bring it to NH. Pure CBD is OK just nothing with THC in it.

I am not sure what state you live in but I live in Arizona where medical marijuana is legal. There are different categories in which you can qualify. I have qualified under chronic pain. I use high CBD when I am very achy and it does help.

Mel, I have no idea. Was wondering. Was hoping it could. But only if I knew that it helped someone else.

I have no knowledge of marijuana raising platelet counts of anyone here in the past 20 years. Sorry.

VJ - I bought CBD oil but it makes me dizzy. Does it do that to you? I've noticed no benefit.

I didn't really think it could Sandy, but one of the comments on this chat of mj a jrodd says that he is a believer because it helped for him. But I'm sceptical. Was hoping there would be more people saying they have tried it and it worked or didn't.

Sandi I've not heard of anyone who has said CBD oil makes them dizzy - can you ask the company who makes it about that? Regarding no benefit - are you taking the amount suggested? If so then I wouldn't buy any more - or you might try another brand. I could tell you who I will use if try it again.

I read about this last night. Found this info. From my understanding, marijuana increases platelet production. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2190025/

The definition of thrombogenisis is clot formation...interesting.

The only benefit of cannabis has been the ability for me to reduce gabapentin as well as navigate those rollercoaster moments.
There's plenty of CBD and beer so go figure.

CBD is a sativa so technically a person with anxiety can get dizzy spells. I am not a Spam. I use Charlotte's Web CBD. I do not have a preference of sativa's I am a pain patient so my preference would be towards the Indica strains. Also the body cannot process more than 20mg of mg of CBD in a 2-hour time period. Too much will make you hyper.stuff is expensive so if you learn how to dose you can save money.

Cannabis got me off of opioids. I know substitute and use CBD to win off of gabapentin I take 900 mg of gabapentin daily where years ago I used to take 3,600 mg a day.

Agreed, I see no correlation in my ITP treatment and cannabis use. Cannabis only allows me to get off of opioids and eases the rollercoaster moments.

I lived in Phoenix for many years. All my cannabis uses to manage my pain. I do not believe cannabis or any kind of cannabinoid has impacted my diagnosis of adult chronic immune thrombocytopenea purpura from childhood immune thrombocytopenea purpura. I don't even know if I got the spelling there's way too many syllables.

CBD does increase signals to the region of the brain that regulates your oxygen intake. Research was finalized it was proven and the articles were written in European medical journals.

Wow! My labs can be anywhere from 1 million all the way down to 1,000 platelets every month. I just started using Danazol this week. I got tired of the catabolic steroids and asked for an anabolic. I believe in building up not breaking down. I've been struggling with ITP for 50 years.

Cannabis helped me, I replaced my pain meds with cannabis. It helps keep stress down, pain leaves down and gave me an appetite. I don't live in an open state so I had to stop due to cost.
