Papaya leaf tea was created by bell1138
Has anyone given their child papaya leaf tea? I wanted to give her the extract but I read that she is to young, she is 6 years old. Has anyone had any success with the tea. I ordered it from amazon but until it gets here I decided to make my own tea with some papaya leaves my neighbor gave me from his tree.

bell if I was going to give something to my child and I then read that it shouldn't be given to someone his/her age I wouldn't be giving it to him/her!

I know I'll get some negative responses to this - but why not ask her doctor if it is ok?!

Probably what you read was simply a generic warning, without scientific basis. Papaya leaf tea is nontoxic, according to numerous articles in scientific journals. You can certainly give your child papaya leaf tea. And it is very effective.

Can you provide links or citations to any of the scientific journal articles about how papaya leaf is safe to give medicinally to children? Because the research and links we've presented here suggest the opposite. May we reference your opinion in any lawsuits if we kill or harm a child? Are you a scientist or a doctor?

Just wanted to update everyone. I did give my daughter the papaya leaf tea. Her platelets did rise on their own and stated up for several weeks. I discontinued the tea once I saw that her platelets rose because the doctor told me that once they rise it usually indicates that she is in remission. Well, unfortunately he was wrong, she was sick with a fever and a cold this week, I noticed petichea and brusing so I took her to the doctor. Her platelets were 4,000. He started her on predinisone . I just bought some more tea and will start to
give it to her again. I dont know if the te had anything to do with her platelets rising but I will try anything. It can't hurt...

Note: There is some scientific evidence that papaya leaf tea can increase platelet counts. See www.pdsa.org/treatments/complementary/herbal-remedies.html Therefore people who have had experience with this remedy or want to help others find a source are not necessarily scammers.

Of course not Joan/Caroline [or whoever you are since it is kept a secret], but the website the person had posted was a dangerous site as my virus program detected.

Why not just delete my post and yours, this post & Sandi's, so things are not confusing? I would seriously doubt the person who posted the website in question "had experience with this remedy" or did "want to help others find a source" - people with experience with a remedy or treatment and those who want to help do not post a website that can transmit malicious software or one that has been involved in online scams or fraud.

And you are welcome for alerting moderators to a scammer - won't happen again.

The site was some sort of article about getting fake notes from doctors to miss work. Had nothing to do with anything here. I did click on it. Mods and Admins can still see deleted posts, so I'm not sure why it was questioned, unless they are referring to one previous post that was also deleted.

I do not understand the mysterious ITPpeople post - there was no question at all about papaya leaf tea, what I was talking about was the post by Davidrgale [and I mentioned the posters name] sending people to a link that my virus program said "has confirmed that this website can transmit malicious software or has been involved in online scams or fraud".

The mysterious ITPpeople has never brought up anything when I've brought other scammers to the attention of the moderators - why when the scammer is in the natural section?

And yes, I still do not like that ITPpeople has all of a sudden appeared on the scene in a moderator position and won't say who they are - we know Sandi is Sandi and a moderator - so ITPpeople appears and we are supposed to take them for their word just because their name is in red - not sure why they are hiding their identity and that bothers me that a moderator or someone in admin does that.

There was a post way up top that was deleted by me, and that could be what ITPpeople is referring to. I considered it questionable, and since advertising isn't allowed, I made a judgment call. This board is so much more lenient than any Forum I've been on. I was once banned from a Lupus Forum for directing a woman with ITP to this site. I thought that was ridiculous and argued with the Mod, but she wouldn't budge. I was truly trying to be helpful.

I don't know who ITPpeople is either, but didn't question it since they have Admin status.
