My Homeopathic Success Story

Just 2 short months ago I was on here looking for a Homeopath, to see if it could help. I was running out of options, as treatments weren’t “sticking” for long anymore. I was lucky enough to find a great Homeopath, who got rid of the residual bad effects I was having from prednisone, and found my apparently perfect constitutional remedy. With less than 2 months on the remedies, I finally got a normal count of 180! Not only have my counts finally begun to normalize, but I’ve had other issues that have fixed themselves since treatment started. I had been exhausted since I was diagnosed last April, and one day I woke up and my fog had lifted. I was more excited about that then my increased platelet counts!

I just wanted to share my story, since I know some of you feel hopeless. I was pretty skeptical of homeopathy before I tried it, since I didn’t (and still don’t) fully understand how it works. My skepticism is gone, and I couldn’t be happier that I tried it. Don’t give up hope! You can beat this!

Very happy for you! It is encouraging to hear good news like this, as ITP can certainly breed hopelessness.
Now, stop and think about it...how many things do you use or benefit from every day, and you don't have the slightest clue as to how or why it works the way it does? And, does it usually even matter to you? I tell you, I have no idea how my computer works (or not, depending on the day!), but it hasn't stopped me from using it. They still don't know how anesthesia works, either, but how many of us would be willing to go under the knife without it? So, it's funny to me when people will outright refuse to even try homeopathy because they don't believe it can work. Glad you tried it!

Wow!! I would never have thought you could have an increase in platelets using homeopathic treatment!! I have been diagnosed with ITP since 1998. Was given Prednisone, other steroids, Retuxin and finally Splenectomy in March of 2010. Just before my Splenectomy my platelets were 5. I have always preferred homeopathic treatment to chemicals. I still have platelet lows and the highest they have been in the past year are 114. Where do you find this treatment? Thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear your treatments haven't been working too well. 114 isn't too bad of a count, but of course it would be great to be higher. Homeopathy is great because it heals your whole body, instead of just focusing on your platelets. I have been working with April as my homeopath. I highly recommend you contact her, as she's amazing! How? What? Who? did you go to? I have been to a homopathic Dr. and spent
a lot of money! Still no change in my platelets. My average is about 40,000.
I went as low as 25,000 and have only goten to 73,000 since November.

Did your doctor try to find your constitutional remedy, or were they trying to treat specific symptoms? I have been using a constitutional remedy which is picked based on the person's whole body, not just one symptom or illness. Maybe you haven't found the right remedy yet, or the doctor you're seeing isn't very good? Is it possible you're seeing a naturopath, who give out supplements and nutritional advise?

Hi All. A quick update, I've been back to get my counts checked twice now in the past 3 months, and both times my counts were at 136. My doctor was so amazed that I'm keeping my counts up that she said "I don't know what you're doing, but keep it up!" This is the same doctor that told me homeopathy and other natural methods don't help people. An added bonus, she told me that my platelets are no longer fat and sticky as they have been since I've had ITP, so my body isn't destroying my platelets like it was. Horray! As time passes, I keep noticing new improvements in my health. I am a big fan of homeopathy, and I highly recommend you all try it if other things aren't working.

Way to go Jenny! If you asked me a year ago I would never have thought that homeopathic treatment (or Reiki in my case) could have such an impact on our ITP condition. I don't understand how it works, but I am a believer.

Jenny, so great to read your story and so happy for your abundant platelets. You go! My daughter is also working with April -- she is lovely and suddenly such an important part of this ITP journey, almost regardless of the outcome. A good companion. We really have just begun the remedy but already small signs of change -- better mood, less cranky, more optimistic really. Honestly these things have haunted my daughter for years, so I'm so grateful for these changes (even more than rising platelets, I think!). Even if it's for a short time -- it's HUGE. I do feel, esp with kids, that good begets good: if she feels better in the world, she'll make kinder and healthier choices, and the world will respond in kind. And so on. I do feel homeopathy can help with these "constitutional" issues. I have no clue how it works -- honestly, it shouldn't -- but somehow it does. When my kids were little I couldn't sleep -- serious problme with anxiety attacks, whole 9 yards. No western doctor or pill couldh elp me, but homeopathy did for several years. (Also kicked out my seasonal allergies for good). So I am cautiously hopeful our daughter's platelets will come up. In the interim, I'm loving her improved mood, her increased happiness, just now a phone call filled with laughter from a friend's softball game. Her platelets are low but her spirits are high. And her spirits haven't been high in years and years -- not in this kind of light-hearted way. So I am so so grateful to April and homeopathy.

Firkins, I’m so glad you found April. She’s helped me tremendously, and she’s now working on other members of my family, and we can’t wait to see the results. I am confident that your daughter’s platelets will rise, since you’re already seeing positive results. My first platelet count after starting my constitutional remedy was almost in the normal range. I do want to say that clients typically work with a homeopathist in person. April initially helped me as I tried to locate a homeopathist in my area. She never once suggested I use her, a credit to her professionalism. I was intent of finding a well trained homeopathist who was also a good fit with my daughter. In the end, frustrated with local options (some great homeopathists but sense not good fits for my particular 12 year old), I asked April if she was willing to work with us long distance.

Hi All,
I haven't been on the site for a while but it's time to post an update. Our 13 yr old daughter has been doing homeopathy for the past two months or so. There is so much I could write (pls excuse my brevity) but I will say how THRILLED we are, how much it has helped (and, no, I don't believe her improvement is coincidental). Our homeopathist (you can figure out who it is if you scroll through my posts) has been so present and helpful and attuned to our daughter and family. We have done the homeopathy while also working with our (also fabulous) hematologist at Mass General.

Here's the short story: The homeopathist really listened to all of us (daughter, mom, and Dad) to really understand our child and her fundamental temperment, struggles, and strengths. The most extraordinary part of this process has been that we ALL feel strongly (including my husband and daughter, previoulsy real homeopathic skeptics!) that the remedy Mia was given perfectly suits her. Yes, her platelets are getting better (more on that later) but MORE -- her entire temperment is less irritable, charged, on edge and, really, in pain. This is something our daughter has struggled with really since she was born-- a general sense of unease in the world, except when she is most safe and secure (eg. with just family or veyr close friends). On her homepathic remedy, Mia has lightened up, eased into herself. It's remarkable how -- the couple of times that we have accidentally "antidoted" the remedy (not sure that's the right term, but accidentally gave her either a dramamine or another remedy that counteracted her principal remedy), how the irritability has come right back. Then, when she is given again her principal remedy -- like magic, about 24 hours later her irritability decreases, her JOY surfaces. She becomes (as she puts it) her "real and best self."

REally, compared to that, the whole platelet thing is really secondary.

But, re: the platelets: When we started homeopathy, we had made a descision with our hematologist to NOT TREAT even if her numbers were very, very low unless there was significant bleeding. We are lucky in that Mia is not a bleeder, but her numbers had previously been dropping into the single digits (3, 5, 6) after treatments (Ivig, AntiD). Slowly but surely Mia's numbers are coming up -- ALL ON THEIR OWN -- no treatments. Last blood test two weeks ago was 124!!! I'll take that, thank you. We are making sure she gets plenty of rest and I consult regularly with our homeopath.

Maybe her numbers would have come up. Maybe. But I do not in any way believe the irritabilty that has haunted my fundamentally wonderful and inately HAPPY child would have dissipated without the remedy. I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL that we took this path, this leap. I know there is no "logical" or "scientific" reason that homeopathy should work. I am not "touchy-feely." I believe in western medicine. But I now ALSO believe in homeopathy. It's been a godsend for us. Forever grateful to our gifted homeopath.

update:

We continue to be grateful we pursued homeopathy for Mia. We do feel strongly and see pretty directly its effect on her MOOD (esp irritiability and anxiety). It has not "cured" ITP. Her numbers continue to be low -- in teens now, htuogh, no longer down into single digits. But her symptoms have decreased: from a lot of bad bruising and pettichae to almost none and from nosebleeds in morning to none. Maybe that is coincidence, but it's a happy one.

We continue to work and check in with the homeopathist for many reasons.

Hi all, I thought it was time for an update. Homeopathy is still working great for me. My last count was 121, and has only dropped down as low as 75 since I started homeopathy almost a year ago. When it dropped to 75 I was under an immense amount of stress, so wasn't surprised the counts dropped. I generally feel so much better than last year, and still am extremely grateful that I've had the opportunity to find my remedy and heal.

Last month I took a class to learn Reiki, which is hands on energy healing. It is something I believe everyone on here should look into. With it you are able to heal yourself or other people whenever you want to, and I believe it can raise platelet counts and heal other illnesses. It's not too expensive, and classes are offered all over the place. It's something that couldn't hurt to try, or at least look into.

Not sure if it's still the case, but you used to have posted a minimum number of times (I want to say, 10??) before you could send a private message--probably to avoid spam being sent.

I would be glad to help you find a good homeopath in your area if I can, and can send you some guidelines and questions that you may want to ask or look for. Because homeopathy is not a licensed profession in most states currently, you do need to do your homework to find someone who is good and experienced. You'll also find that one person's "homeopathy" may not be the same definition as another person's idea of "homeopathy". I see a LOT of confusion on this all the time.

My own daughter was 12, when she was first diagnosed with ITP. (Though, in hindsight, we are fairly certain that her platelets had probably been low, 6 months prior to diagnosis.) She was trapped in the center of a massive wildfire at that time, which I feel created an enormous amount of stress in her. (She survived, but as it was the epicenter, many people and animals did not. Thousands of acres and homes were destroyed.)

She did not respond to any treatments we tried, and she mostly lived with counts of 3k-8k. As I was already in homeopathic school, and had used homeopathy for yearswith my family, that was my first choice of treatments. It took a few months to hit upon the best remedy for her. But, when I did, her platelets went from 11k to 411k in less than 4 days! And, she has remained in remission since then, 8 1/2 years later, with no treatments whatsoever, other than an occasional dose of her constitutional remedy.

But, better than her platelets normalizing, the changes we saw in her behavior, general mood and overall health were nothing short of miraculous! As anyone with a young teenager knows, they aren't always the easiest to live with. Her remedy smoothed the journey quite nicely.
