After ivig and three large doses of methylpred, does anyone know how long it would stay in the body? I believe that the immune system would be low after the steroids but I'm wondering for how long for?

It all depends on the dose and how long you had it. Prednisone is an immunosuppressant, but the immune system is still pretty strong and it doesn't cause an immunodeficiency like some other drugs or disorders do.

I see - thanks :-) My son has the doses each at 12 hour intervals. I don't remember the dose - I'll check next time I see our haemo.

The fact that he won't take it orally so therefore doesn't have it for weeks or months at a time would be better than a few strong doses via iv I presume? Might leave the body quicker.

You know, it is recommended that you tell your doctors that you've been on steroids for up to a year after you've stopped taking them. The drug might not stay in your body that long, but it's effects can last long time. I'm not sure how long you have to take the prednisone for this recommendation to be in effect.
