My story...

My story... was created by ohau8622
Towards the end of February my mother, 74 years old, was admitted to the hospital due to a kidney stone. While performing routine blood work her platelet count was low at which time she was diagnosed with ITP. It was my first time ever hearing about this condition at which time I had to learn as much as I could in a very short time frame. My mother received the normal course of treatments, at least some since complications from the treatments were developing and her condition worsening, it came to a point where none of the treatments worked. I stayed by my mothers side 41 days until she took her last breath on Sunday, April 25th at 12:33 pm. I never heard of this condition, but unlike anything that I have seen, heard or read about, this has to be the worst and most horrific of deaths and I certainly do not wish it upon anyone.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Death from ITP is very rare, and age does make a difference. My condolences to you and your family.

My mother's platelets dropped way below 10k and internal bleeding took her life.

I just wanted to share my story since to me this has been surreal and from everything I've read it's very unusual that it's terminal, in her case ITP took her life very fast.
