my son had the surgeory was created by farida
my son diagnosed 1 year and have with itp , he had hard time during this time , 7 time relaps , he tried ivig , prednisone, he ended with the spleen removed on thursday ,the sergeory went very will. we sent home yesterday , one night in the hospital , he has pain , but they gave him morphine yesterday , but he is off pain killer today, but his count didn't jump , i'm so sad , his count was 101k befor the surgeory, after 18 hours it was 157k , we will do another cbc on monday, i don't know , is this mean his surgary didn't work for him

Hi Farida,

It is great to hear that your son has had the surgery, and is doing well.

I understand your concern that his count has not increased dramatically, I was the same after my splenectomy.

Try to take one day at a time, and take comfort in the fact that everyone responds differently.

If it is found that his splenectomy has not been sucessful, there are still other treatment possibilities.

Hang in there Farida. You have friends here who will listen when you need to chat.

thank you snowgoose for your reply, thank god my son's count jumped up to 573k last monday , i hope it will be up for ever,
