Tetanus shot and keflex--no platelet issues

Last week I needed to get a tetanus shot, and was also put on keflex. As far as I can tell, these didn't affect my platelets at all--count in early February was in the 120s, today's count is 146.

In 2003, I had a tetanus shot and was put on cipro, and my platelet count fell from 41 to 19 in less than a week. So....was it the cipro and not the tetanus shot, or was I just at a different place with my ITP. Probably will never know... :S

Hmmm...don't know. I've taken both Keflex and Cipro with no platelet drop. Amoxicillin always does me in. I haven't had a tetnus since the 80's and probably won't...you never know what might happen with ITP.

How is the hand?

Well, the stitches came out today. It's still a little swollen and much more sore than I would expect after 9 days. Doc said to keep it out of the sun for the first year to minimize scar discoloration, which I think was a worthwhile tip.

Putting vitamin E on will also help reduce the sign of the scan.
