Ok, so I took 4 Advil's yesterday for a very sore stiff neck. I rarely ever take this stuff and stick to Tylenol. But this morning I woke up to some fresh blood in my nose, and after two blows it went away. I am soo tired today and when the counts are down I am too. No new bruising though. Can 1 or 2 doses of this medicine decrease platelets that fast? I know aspirin is a no. I am just worried now and I can't take time off work to get checked.

I don't think Advil makes your count drop, but I know it is a blood thinner. I had some of that too without the Advil. It wasn't like flowing blood, like a real nose bleed, just (please forgive me for the bluntness, I know it's gross, but it's the only way to explain it!) ...bloody boogers. I think it's nothing to worry about, but then again.....what do I know?! I didn't even mention it to my doc.

I don't know what it'll do with your platelets, but Advil is Ibuprofen.. so is Motrin.. all the same stuff.. just different labels. Blood thinning no nos.

I still don't like to take it often unless i am heaps of pain and normal painkillers aren't working, but my hemotologist told me that taking ibuprofen is okay to take as long as u don't take it all the time whenever u have pain, thats why i only use it if i get say a really bad migraine that normal panadol won't get rid of.
