Update

Firstly, Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone - I hope you've all had a good one
Dougie had his first appointment since last Easter today. His count was 44, so we are very happy with that. He's had a few nosebleeds this last term but not on the scale that they were happening before. When he comes home next summer he will go back for a count and to see the consultant.
It's really nice for both him and us to have been able to put ITP on the back burner this last year or so. A count above 30 means that he is generally symptomless so he's just been getting on with student life at uni.

FWIW I've got Dougie listed as row type 3 in my PDSA notes. This is the same type as myself. I think I got ITP from Chickenpox when I was a toddler and have had lower counts since then. It was when I got around 45-50 years that the bruising became 'easy'. You probably know what I mean by that.

Thanks Hal, I do know what you mean. Fingers and everything else crossed that might mean that he's got another 25 years of putting ITP on the back burner -.we'd all be very happy with that :silly:

LOL, it's even worse. One can't stop progress. In 25 years they could have a cure for cancer, figured out the immune system, and have fixes for ITP. At the very least, Promacta will be off patent and will be dirt cheap. I only need the lowest dose of it to get by.
