glucosamine was created by stilman
My platelets are steady at about 10. I have alot of arthritis and brusitis and someone told me glucosamine helps. Does anyone know if this is okay?

Probably not a good idea.

Use cautiously when taking recommended doses over a long time period or if injected into the muscle. Use cautiously if using doses higher than those recommended. Use cautiously in people with low blood platelet counts, as glucosamine may interact with antibodies.
Glucosamine may increase the risk of bleeding. Caution is advised in people with bleeding disorders or taking drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding, such as vitamin K antagonists (warfarin). Dosing adjustments may be necessary.

You should not use this product if you are allergic to chondroitin and glucosamine; or

if you take warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven).

Ask a doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare provider if it is safe for you to use this product if you have:
asthma;
an allergy to shellfish (oyster, crab, shrimp);
diabetes;
high blood pressure, high cholesterol;
prostate cancer; or
bleeding or blood clotting disorder such as hemophilia.
