Tick born illness was created by D.Mann
I have a good friend that is a veterinarian. I was telling him about my ITP diagnosis. He suggested I make sure that my doc has run a full tick panel on my blood. At a recent conference he attended the speaker mentioned that more and more tick born diseases are speaking to humans. He mentioned a client of his that was diagnosed with Lupus several years ago. She found out recently was checked for other symptoms and discovered she was positive for 2 tick born maladies. Treatment for these have indicated that she does not have Lupus and is weaning off all Lupus meds without issues.

At the end of the day I suppose it doesn't hurt to be sure.
Has anyone else heard this?

I have a friend who was treated for lupus for many years only to find out she really has MS. It seems to me lupus is diagnosed a lot when it really isn't lupus. I'd want my lupus diagnosis verified after my friend's experience.

This is an interesting topic- been hearing more about ticks lately.

I've been having some angioedema- swelling lip, tongue which along with low platelets can point to lupus. All my tests come back negative- ANA, sed rate, C1. Got tested for 100 different foods and not showing allergy to anything. That is odd since several foods make my mouth and tongue itchy- almonds, walnuts, melons, bananas, avocado. They say the tests are accurate so whatever.?

Allergy doc then asks me if I've lived in the southern/eastern USA because the Lone Star Tick is causing angioedema, even anaphylaxis. I'm from Kansas originally, had tick bites in Arkansas but that was many years ago. She said there can be a delayed reaction but probably not that long, plus I don't think I was bitten by that kind of tick.

Anyway, if a person has had a Lone Star tick bite, they can then have a severe allergic reaction when they eat beef or pork. It is different from most food allergies because the reaction might not happen for 4-6 hours after the beef was eaten.
