SED Rate was created by EmilyK
My hemo ordered a test for my "SED rate." I looked on line and it has to do with determining the level of inflammation in the body, as best I can tell. I was excited to see mine was a "2." I don't see the doctor until mid August to talk to him, however. Then a friend said her result was less 1 and now am thinking maybe a 2 is not so low after all. Has anyone else had this test done? Any insight?
Thanks.

The normal range for an adult female is 0 to 20, so 2 is still low, which is usually a good thing.

'ESR stands for erythrocyte sedimentation rate. It is commonly called a "sed rate."

It is a test that indirectly measures how much inflammation is in the body.'

It will not tell what the inflammation is from though. Have had this test done many times. There are different normal ranges depending on gender & age - scroll to about the middle of page for that.

Emily:

2 is fantastic! Under 20 is good. Mine is usually over 60 just to give a perspective.
