...like mine. Saw her today because it was time - she asked me why I wanted to have my count done every 3-4 months - since she had an intern following her I didn't blurt out "last year you told me to have a CBC every 3-4 months!!!". She then was explaining me/my case to the intern - and that my count which has bounced between 60k & 90k the past year she considers to be the same, 60k the same as 90k. She told him that along with ITP I also have low IgG which is low enough to be treated but that she doesn't want to treat yet and I don't either. She told him I have had ITP many years and still have my spleen and was proud of me for that - explained to him that they now know that aside from destruction it is also a matter of production.

But what I really like about this hematologist and why I say everyone should have one like her: She does not panic!!

Sounds great. I read about panicky hematologists on here who put newly diagnosed patients through 4-5 treatments in a very short amount of time, not giving any one treatment time to work and scrambling around. Having one that doesn't panic is good :)

Congrats on the counts too, nice numbers!

Guess 62k is the new 92k ;)

My son said I should have told her she is the one who said to get the CBCs every 3-4 months.

mom you are right - some of what the new ITPers go through is scary. Maybe I was lucky to be diagnosed with only prednisone & splenectomy were the only treatments.
