Patches of red on legs was created by Flowergirl
Has anyone had these type of red patches on your arms and legs? It is just getting worse and worse. My counts are up right now, I am taking NPlate 310mcg every week.

What is it? Petechiae? Purpura? Eczema? Psoriasis? Could be any number of things. Is it itchy?

I am a nurse and I know it is not eczema, not itchy or scaly. It could be purpura, I guess, but my hematologist just called it an "autoimmune response" which means nothing to me. By the way, I am a mental health nurse, which is why I am not very familiar with skin disorders... It really only been bad since the NPlate.

Maybe a side effect of NPlate? There are a few people here who have vasculitis that has been described as looking like purpura. Have you had a biopsy?

No, she doesn't seem interested, she is pretty flippant about my symptoms sometimes. I'm sure I'm not the worst, but I still would like her consideration.

I think I'd see a dermatologist for that. A hemo normally wouldn't consider a skin biopsy. They are usually only interested in their own field. I am surprised she didn't refer you at least.

Are they patches or red spots?p

I have a few red spots on my lower legs by my ankles. I was told by the Nurse Practioner that they were from the "low platelets."

I would suggest you get another CBC test to see where your platelets are. If you are on medication, they should disappear.

I hope this helps!

Take care!

I am on NPlate also and have red patches on my lower back that are very itchy. I'm not sure if it's red because I itch it so much or if it's just red anyway! It's not a rash or anything like that. I put some lotion on it this morning and it helped for a bit. I really think mine is just dry skin. I hope anyway!
