high lymph and wbc after spleenectomy

I had my spleen out in 1999 at the age of 35 after trying many treatments for ITP. Although it was a rough surgery(staples came loose and I bled out), my platelet counts have remained over 400 since. I have been generally healthy with the exception of breast cancer in 2003. I make sure that I keep up with vaccinations, travel with a z pac and use lots of vitamins and alternative methods to keep up my immunity. I try to avoid taking antibiotics because the doctors made me take them so often the first few years post-spleenectomy for every little sore throat and sinus infection. I ended up with severe yeast issues. I'm thrilled that I have not had to use antibiotics for several years since I started all the natural preventatives.
I just had my yearly physical and noticed that as usual my lymph and white blood counts are high. My physician does not think it is a problem but I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. If so, is there a way to bring these counts down to normal. I'm about to turn 52 and I'd like to stay as healthy as possible.

I don't think there is any way to lower your white counts. A person can have high lymphocytes and still be healthy. If they are just above the reference range it's usually not a problem at all. Since lymphocytes fight infection, I'd rather have slightly high counts than low counts.

I have Lupus and my CBC is always all over the place. My last one was a mess. Nothing I can do about it, just hope that nothing gets too far out of range that indicates a serious problem.

I've seen this with my mother, whose care I've been helping with since a major surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2014. Her WBC counts are frequently elevated slightly above the reference range. It's not clear why, it's not considered clinically significant, and it's not worth pursuing treatment for. WBC counts can be mildly elevated for days or weeks after even a minor infection, and may be sightly higher or lower in some people for no clear reason. It's certainly worth keeping track of, but if your doctor isn't worried and if you're free of clinical signs or symptoms, you probably have nothing to be concerned about.
