What would you do?

I finished my rituxan two weeks ago. I see my hemo on Wed. My count was 109K then, but my legs now are completely black, blue, green, etc... So I think they have dropped dramatically. He mentioned
he wanted to do N-plate next. I was on N-plate a few years ago but my platelets did eventually plummet which led to my first rituxan treatment. My insurance has a pre-approval process for promacta. Do you think I should try to get him to try to get approval for promacta or just go to the N-Plate if my platelets are down?

I have used both Promacta and Nplate. If I were you, I'd probably go ahead and get the pre-approval for Promacta- doesn't hurt to have it. Also just my opinion but I'd probably try Promacta just to do something different. Either way you go would likely be fine. When I was on Promacta I was so set on it that I didn't want to try NPlate, I just kept going back to Promacta as I was familiar with it. When I finally tried Nplate I really liked it better! I have been on it for a year now.

But the insurance coverage makes a difference. Good to check that out. My copay for Promacta was $400. a month. yow that is steep! With Nplate I'm getting help from Amgen- they have paid nearly $1800. of my $2500. out of pocket max this year- that is a big help.
