Prednisone facial hair was created by EmilyK
Ladies
I am starting to have more facial hair then my husband from the steroids. Normally i would use an over the counter cream to dissolve it, but now i am afraid to put anything new on my skin for fear of its effects on my platelets. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions. I suppose i could try and tweeze them all, but that usually leads to a very irritated face. Or I can just look hairy.
Thanks

I've never heard of a cream like that affecting counts but I guess who knows. Shave them. Keep a little disposable razor in your purse and do it whenever you need to, just a dry quick scrape.

Emily:

If you start doing that, you won't dye your hair or use household cleaners or pump gas or spray for bugs or any of the endless things that people have to do. A simple cold or antibiotic to drop counts.....

  • Diagnosed in 2000, at 59, after being on moderately high doses of NSAIDs for arthritis. Splenectomy and rituxan both failed (2004). Did well on prednisone till summer 2018--then terrible reactions. Promacta since 11-19.

I've never used wax for hair removal, but my beautician sister-in-law swears by it, and she looks great.
