I got an answer! was created by brennamadi
I met with my new hematologist. Last Thursday I was admitted to the hospital and had to recieve a blood transfusion and a bone marrow biopsy the next morning. After months I finally know what is causing my IYP. Honestly, I'm not sure it's ITP at all. I have aplastic anemia, which has been causing all of my counts to be low. Had this been diagnosed months ago, I curse my old hematologist, then it could be treated with medacation. However, odds are I have to have a bone marrow transplant. The hematologist has backed off treatment until we speak with the team in Dallas. We should get a call tonight with an appointment. Until then I have an appointment with my primary care on Thursday for a CBC and to check my canker sore. These next few months are sure to be tough. I may not get to enjoy my senior year, it may even be extened due to hours depending on the treatment plan. YAY! (heavy sarcasm). Please keep my family and I in your thoughts. We're all terrified.

Brenna:

I am so sorry to hear that. I am glad that you finally got to a doctor though; that gluten-free diet wouldn't have helped you any with this!

I wish you the best and please, keep in touch so we know how you are doing. :)
