Hi all! I apologize for not checking in from time to time but I was not able to get in and couldn't figure out how to reset my password. Caitlin is doing great! She is in remission and has been off all treatment since May 2014! She stayed on Nplate for almost 6 years then her count was staying above normal on the minimum dose so we decided to stop and she has held on! Counts usually stay between 100-130 now. She is 16 and a junior now. Still doing cheer and is on one of the top teams in the world now. Couldn't be more proud of her! My only wish is that everyone could have the same outcome.

Diagnosed: 03/02/07
Current count (Feb 2011): 138

Treatments tried: IVIG (doesnt work), Prednisone (sometimes works with high doses), Nplate (2 years on it-worked, but had to be taken off due to...

Pauline! I think about you and Caitlin often and have wondered how you are both doing. I am so glad to hear good news. N-Plate has been causing remissions for people and I'm glad Caitlin is one of them.

Any recent Youtube videos of her?

Hi, Pauline. I, too, have been wondering how you and Caitlin are doing. That is great news! Thanks for checking in and updating us. I am so glad she is able to enjoy high school life without the constant ups and downs of ITP. I hope her remission is also allowing her Mom to breathe easier these days. How time has flown. Julianne is still in remission, too, and is a junior in college now. I wish you and your family a merry and peaceful holiday season.

It is so good to hear from you both! Missed your positive comments and wealth of knowledge! I don't get to go to the gym anymore because she drives herself so I do not have any videos. However, if you go on You Tube and look up Cheer Athletics Panthers from Oct 2013 to now, there will be videos of their performances. In the more recent videos (Oct/Nov), she is the very last tumbling pass. In the ones from last season, she is 2nd to last on her tumbling pass and she tumbles with another person. It is a great team to watch! We still go to the rheumatologist for follow ups, but she does not take the Plaquenil anymore. She has had great labs (dsDna not detected the last 3 labs) so they decided it was good for her to stop since she wasn't really that great about remembering to take it everyday. I think we follow up again in January, but will have a new rheumatologist because her current one just sent us a letter saying she was moving. Kind of weird to have such out of whack labs to turn out almost normal a few years later, but I am not complaining! The only thing still low is her wbc and recently, it was extremely low at .7, then it went back up to 3.8 earlier this week (highest ever). She will see a cardiologist next week to rule out one thing, but once that is done...hopefully we will not have any other specialists we have to see in a long time!

So glad to hear Julianne is still in remission and it's hard to believe she is already a junior in college! In two years, I will have two in college. My oldest is a senior while my youngest (Caitlin) is a junior, so I will have two graduating back to back. I am not so sure that was good planning because I will have an empty nest too soon!

Pauline - that can happen with labs. It's generally considered to be remission. No matter what it is, if she feels good and has good labs, she's okay!

I'll try to look up the videos tomorrow.

Thank you so much! :) Very proud mom and maybe in two years we'll see her cheering on the college sidelines.
