So went for my check up. I really really like my new doctor. She has a memory that works! First words out of her mouth were did you get the tooth pulled. (nope not yet still wiggling it in hopes of loosening it)

Great News! - Platelets at 162 doctor is still hopeful that even though I didn't get full dose of Rituxan I will still get a year or two remission. We even talked about if I did get a year or two we could reassess whether the parathesia is gone and the possibility of doing another one only if this one works! (at this point still have it and the answer would be NO)

She wrote me a note so I can refuse to get the flu shot! Whoohoo because last time had a reaction and platelets dropped in half.

We talked about what to do if my count drops and put a plan in place. First order do not go to any hospital other than where she works. She is going to put a note on my file saying she can be contacted and what treatment works best!

We agreed that Winrho would be the choice option. If that isn't available trying Dex even though it is a steroid and I do not react well to steroids. It would be a one time does and she would make sure I got pre-treated and hospital would monitor me. Her thoughts were if I went a little psycho least I would be at a hospital. Platelets to be given in life threatening emergency (as I've never been given them and want to keep it that way)!

We talked about the distance to the hospital and bad weather. (Canada sometimes can get bad snow storms). In a case of bad weather and if the bleeding is bad leaving me unable to drive. Calling for an ambulance and having them take me to her hospital is option. That said I usually drive myself.

Anyway back to sleep working tonight!

PS: did I tell you I really really like this doctor!

I'm so glad you have a good doctor, Julia! That's great!

Sorry the paresthesia isn't gone yet. I was hoping for better news on that front.

Sandi - It isn't here all the time it seems to be intermitten right now. I just know I still have it because I have a resident who reaches over and kind grabs my legs (as to hug them) and it feels like i'm being stabbed with something sharp where her fingers land. Now it doesn't happen all the time so I'm taking that as a sign it is going away slowly!

Melinda I was worried with the last one being a big disappointment! You are right it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

MatthewR - Yes I feel very lucky she's my 3rd hemo and so far the best.

It tickles me Julia that you like her - she does sound like a gem! My hematologist recently passed away unexpectedly, he was a dear man and a great hematologist/oncologist and I just don't know how he can be replaced. I will need to get a new one and keep an open mind.

Melinda - I sure hope you can find one like this one I now have. Maybe the next one will be even better! I hope so!

Now that said I'm a non-compliant patient! But so far everything that got me labeled that before she seems to be ok with.
