ITP Annoyance

ITP Annoyance was created by Aoi
For the first time my ITP has affected someone else. Last month I met with the surgical team taking care of my mother's cancer, and was asked if I'd donate blood for my mother for her surgery. They explained that the blood supply was tight and that a close family member would produce a good match, especially if he had type O blood, which I do.

I had to refuse. No one in my family is angry with me, and of course my mother will get the blood she needs. But I am highly annoyed because I have for years assumed my lack of platelets would only ever affect me. That turns out not to be the case.

Just thought I'd share this, since it's probably happened to others here.

Unfortunately, having ITP does affect others as much as we try not to allow that. The treatments affect our time and our moods and get in the way of normal living.

I'm sure you are going above and beyond to help your Mother in many other ways. This is just a small blip that you can't control...don't let it get to you.
