My doctor?

My doctor? was created by Kim081
Hello out there!

I'm hoping someone can give me their thoughts on this. A few weeks ago I received a letter from my doctors office that my internist was leaving at the end of the month. I have been going to this internist for many years, this is the doctor that sent me to the hematologist about the ITP.
Her office was basically the one where I had my "meltdown" when I first was diagnosed.

The letter states all the doctors in that office that are colleagues and will take on existing patients. I found out today when I called that my doctor will be in the area (but they don't know where), which I think is totally BS. Will they not tell me because they don't want patients leaving? What's the ethical thing here? Are doctors not allowed to notify patients? My choice is...if I can follow my doctor then that's what I would want to do.

That has happened to me also several times. I found out pretty quickly where the doctors went by either asking around or doing an Internet search. Chances are, the doctor will set up a website or his address will show up on a name search. He won't be hiding for long.

It's also happened with my vet that I love. The old office wouldn't tell us where she went, but I happened to have her cell phone number and called her.

You can ask at your local public library reference desk, there are registrations of doctors and the librarian could probably track the doctor down to the new practice.

Actually sometimes it is better to have a new doctor - we had to go with an HMO and so that meant all new doctors, actually I felt my new PCP listened to me and heard me whereas my former PCP listened but now I know he wasn't hearing [and he was a very good doctor and we got along well].

Some things happen and may happen for a good reason.
