Sorry I can't answer your question, but I also have vertigo. I'm certain its an imbalance of fluid in my ear. And also that it is an autoimmune disorder because when I was on high doses of prednisone the vertigo went away. Then when I tapered it came back.

I went to an ear nose throat doctor once years ago, it was a waste of time. He couldn't tell me anything. So I've just been living with it. I am sort of getting motivated to try again with a new doctor. Anyway, I do hope whatever you do works for you! It can be quite miserable. good luck

Flippy:

My answer to anyone who asks about meds is this: Any drug has the potential to cause a drop in counts. Everyone reacts differently to a particular drug. If thrombocytopenia is a listed side effect, that does not mean it will happen to you. Thrombocytopenia is a listed side effect for some of the ITP treatments. You have to weigh the pros and cons of taking the drug. If the benefits outweigh the potential risk, try it. Many people here are treating more than one medical issue and sometimes that places ITP on the back burner. In that case, you have to do what you have to do.

I don't know about diuretics, but if you need to be treated for Meniere's you will have to go ahead with them, i know how hard it is to live with vertigo.

I have had bad vertigo, my PCP sent me to Mass Eye and Ear vestibular clinic. They were great there and I went through alot of testing. Then i was diagnosed with vestibular migraines. I rarely have a headache with it but have vertigo.

I have no idea about other diuretic drugs, but I've taken hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) daily for high blood pressure for over a decade with no apparent affect on platelet count. I take 25mg daily combined with 100mg of metoprolol tartrate.
