Fibromatosis and Nplate was created by Christine
For the past few years I have been talking about how Nplate is the wonder drug for me. Today I had the results of my recent BMB and the doc said I POSSIBLY have the start of fibromatosis in the bone marrow - apparently the Nplate is scarring it. I have another BMB in Nov to see if it has progressed. PLEASE if anyone has info on this please let me know - I read articles on the internet and they scared me.
I tried to find mention of this on this site and couldn't find anything or I was not looking in the right place
My plts have been dropping lately but that has never really been a concern of mine - last count 16
High plts everyone, Christine :) :) :)

I think you mean fibrosis. The reports say that it is reversible and will go away if you stop using the drug. It's not common.

Thank you - I was so confused when I left his office (not the usual Christine!!!!) I'm sure you are right, now I come to think about it. It was the thought of the Gamma transfusions, or even worse, prednisone resuming when I was taken off Nplate.

May I ask...
When taking NPlate, do repeated BMBs have to be done to check for fibrosis? How often?

Biopsies don't usually have to be done while on Nplate unless a change in the blood cells is noticed. So doing regular blood film / smear checks is the most important thing.
