I have been in remission for 3 years. 3 years ago I was a healthy 49 year old woman. I spent 3 months in hospital with platelet counts of 2-5. My spleen was removed and I was on high doses of Prednisone and commenced Imuran - nothing worked until I had Rituxamab my platelets rose to 772 then stabalised to around 250. I had no problems and remained healthy for 3 years.

3months ago it came back I had IVGA in hospital and was on 75 mg of Prednisone. The Prednisone was keeping my platelets up (Prednisone didn't work last time) at around 30 however my hematologist wanted me off the Prednisone and started me on Nplate. I have had 6 weeks of NPlate injections starting at 2mcg to 4mcgs. After my 6th injection my platelets rose to 665 then to 995 at this point my injections ceased the week after my platelets rose to 1280.

I am hoping fingers crossed that the Nplate has given my immune system such a big jolt that I will be back in remission. Has anyone had a similar experience with Nplate?

Kim:

People have been known to go into remission after N-Plate use, but it is too soon to tell. If you can maintain a safe count without N-Plate for a period of time (a few months), that could indicate remission.

N-Plate does not stimulate the immune system. It stimulates platelet production in the bone marrow. Ideally, counts should be maintained around 50k....having counts higher than that can put you at risk for blood clots, especially without a spleen.
