But a lot of medications will decrease counts.

As Amber says most medications can decrease platelets in a very, very few. Most of us will be fine.

eHealthme can be very misleading. They found 3 people whose platelet counts decreased AFTER taking Dramamine, not necessarily BECAUSE of taking Dramamine. No attempt to show whether it is even more common than usual, let alone statistically significant.

Reading eHealthme.com, one might get the impression that prednisone causes low platelets:

By the way, Dramamine works by slowly breaking down into Benadryl, which only then can enter the brain to block motion sickness. That is the only reason you have to take Dramamine ahead of time: it is basically time-released Benadryl. Taking Benadryl works very quickly to relieve motion sickness, but wears off quickly and has to be repeated on a long trip. It's a lot cheaper, too.
