I know we have had a discussion about this topic before, but I truly feel blessed to have found Dr. mccrae at Cleveland Clinic. He has been amazing. He is an expert on itp and without his help, I would truly be in a much darker place. He listens to me and answers all 500 questions I have. He treats me like I'm his only patient. I have called him crying because my counts have dropped or something like that and he returns my calls within 5 minutes. He is always so calm and patient with me when I am so anxious.

His nurse carol is also great! She makes sure I get my Promacta. She had to fight with my insurance company for weeks but never gave up.

Without doctors and nurses like them itp would be much worse. I am grateful that they came into my life at my darkest point. I will be moving and had to say goodbye yesterday. We all hugged and cried and wished each other luck.

Mccrae called me this morning because one of his former attendings practices in Phoenix. He talked to her and she is willing to take me on as a patient. They still talk on a regular basis so it should be a good fit. If anything I love the Cleveland clinic so much I would go twice a year if needed!

A good doctor can make all the difference. I've been through about 6 Rheumatologists in the last 8 years. Still have my original Hemo though (16 years). I had to break him in, but he was always open to suggestions.

100% agree with this. My hematologist is wonderful - I've been with him for 16 years. Agree with you, too, Sandi - I've been through 5 rheumatologists and I'm still not confident in the one I have now.

Yes, a great hematologist is such a wonderful thing, makes life with ITP so much easier. My hema of 15 years just retired and im really sad about it. Im seeing another dr in the practice until her replacement comes this summer. The new doc is finishing a fellowship at Beth Isreal in Boston... So she will be young. Hope I like her!

That is what I hope for someday is a doctor who I can talk too. A doctor who will listen! A doctor who is open to something other than well that is what I was taught in school so nothing else is correct!

After 2 visits I have come to the conclusion it will take 15-20 years to break my new hematologist in. I am ok with that because I am up to the challenge!
