I accidentally deleted your email from my old storage. I wanted to follow up with you. Did your counts rise enough to let you fly to Paris in February or did you fly with low counts? How did it work out for you.

I had a wonderful time with my twin daughters. Thanks for remembering and asking. Count is 23. Really did not give itp much of a thought and didn't take any special considerations other than I normally do which is just to be somewhat careful. Flying was just fine with absolutely no problems (California-London-Paris). Trip of a lifetime and one I am so glad I did. Thanks for yours and Sandi's encouragement. I am continuing to have cbc's now every 3 weeks. Am on a very slow wean off prednisone (2 mg every other day) but have been on it since May. Dr said on Tuesday she will have to treat if I go below 10 again. Otherwise I live with itp and it hasn't slowed me down. And now I won't even be concerned with travel. I am one lucky lady.

Very happy for you Ruth,
When we travelled from Australia around the world via USA, France & Spain 18 months ago I was very apprehensive. With counts of around 30 I relaxed after getting travel insurance & made the most of visiting some very special friends. The support & encouragement found here keep me going.
Have you considered travelling Down Under?

I like your attitude! I was diagnosed ITP a couple months before we were to move to Tokyo - wasn't going to let that stop us, we moved to Japan & then we moved to Hong Kong [both times never knew if I'd get a hematologist] and we did travel, a lot. Even though counts were down and I was messing with prednisone I never regretted the decision one bit! We can't give up on life!

So glad you had a great trip - hope more trips are in your future!
