H.pylori recurring was created by amandalbenner
Hi everyone 5+ years I was diagnosed with a count of 6k. This was 3 months after treatment for h.pylori. After treatment for ITP ive been in remission with a count fluctuating between 100k to 150k. But ive been diagnosed again today with h.pylori and a growth in my gallbladder. My question is:everywhere ive read states that your count should improve not go down when erradicated. Is this something that I should be watching?

Amanda:

My thought is that in your case, H. Pylori may not have been the cause of your ITP. Many people here have treated H. Pylori with no improvement in counts. If that is the case, the two illnesses are separate issues. I think that over the span of about 14 years, I have only seen about 2/20 (guesstimate) people have a rise in counts after treating H. Pylori when they tested positive.

It's also possible that the antibiotics may have caused your counts to drop. Some people are sensitive to some antibiotics. However, even if that is the case (which you won't know for sure unless you take them again), I would still treat the H. Pylori.
