I recently applied to upgrade a modest life insurance policy. As dumb luck would have it, I was in a flare at the time, so the application was denied. I have 90 days to appeal.

My best counts are only in the 60s-70s... never in normal range but rarely dangerous. Would you attempt an appeal, or do you think it's completely futile?

If you believe that an appeal is justified, go for it. Won't hurt to try.

I guess my underlying question is whether actuaries view ITP as a disease with a high fatality rate. (I sure don't.) So I'm not sure they'll ever be convinced I'm not going to die of this, not even with a letter from my hema doc. My fightin' days are well behind me. Don't want to go to war for no good end.

Janet:

I'd appeal once. If you lose, give up. If you win, great! I've won appeals before on the first try. Not for life insurance, though.
