Does anyone have chronic kidney failure plus ITP?

I was diagnosed with ITP in 1996. It took a while to get my platelets back up and we tried everything. Steroids, chemo, splenectomy, etc. They have dropped dramatically a couple of time since and are currently running 117,000,

Now I've been dx with stage 4 renal failure. I was just wondering if anybody else with ITP also has CKD?

Lady,

I do not have the knowledge or condition to comment, but I am very interested. I have ITP and my counts typically run 20 to 40. I have not done any treating with the exception of IVIG for a colonoscopy and a knee surgery. I have not done any treatments intentionally. I will follow your post. I will be here if you wish to talk or to just yell. I do understand.

Keep hanging in there!

Jeffrey

Thankfully that is something I do not have to deal with and I am sorry you do! I don't recall anyone saying they were in kidney failure, but my memory isn't the best.

Good luck to you - I hope all goes well!

Has the cause of your kidney disease been determined? Is it autoimmune? That would make sense as autoimmune diseases often occur together. You might want to post your question in the Lupus category.
If your kidney failure is autoimmune, many of the same treatments are used as for ITP, including steroids, IVIG, and Rituxan. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will chime in.
