Hi everyone,

Second ITP anniversary approaching-oh my, how time flies even when you're not enjoying yourself. Been off steroids for about three months. Currently maintaining a count of 48, but has been low as 32. I tend to get mouth blisters when count dips below 30: no blisters in the last three months. Worryingly, in the last few days I've been getting three plum sized bruises, two on the left arm (-always the left arm?) and one on the belly. Do any of you get bruising when count is in the Forties or so. I'm terrified of the approaching cold & flue season.

I start to get bruises around 40 or 35, but my count stays pretty low. 30 is high for me lol :) But as far as the flu season, I'm absolutely terrified! I got the flu three times in a row last year. School is hard to go to in the flu season.

I get bruises all the time, if I don't have a bruise I think something is wrong

The bruises take about 4 weeks to fade. Pay attention to see if they "grow" or don't fade is what I go by.

I have been off treatment since Feb 2013 and my counts are holding between 30K and 40K.

I don't get unexpected bruising unless counts go below 20, then I start to bruise more easily, and under 10-15 I get bruising on limbs, at first little grey/black circles, and then bigger ones.

The bruises can last for ages, but go quite rapidly when platelets get back above 20. Low count bruises are also amazing colours, violet, purple, black, turning to red.

I get peticchiae before the bruising, and especially on palms and tummy. Weirdly I also get dry, flakey skin on my palms at the same time. I guess that's another inflammation thing going on.

Hi, I think your best thing is not to worry unless you get like a nosebleed, loads of spots suddenly or any pain or confuse. Believe me, it will drive you insane. I was always worried when I saw those little spots but there is no way to tell. You can get easy bruising I would suspect up to a 100k. I'm currently in 200k and when they were 105 I would get little bruises without touching anything so it's so hard to tell. I tell you this cause it will drive you crazy guessing.

I usually do not bruise unless I am really low. I was at 5k a few days ago and had a really nice bruise on my left forearm along with a few smaller ones at different locations and a couple blood blisters on the inside of my cheek. I used to worry whenever I noticed a bruise, now I just roll with it. I was a bit concerned with the bruise this time due to the size and color of it. Try not to worry, Stress just makes thing worse.
