Predictive Tests for Splenectomy

I know several people have discussed whether there are tests to predict the success of a splenectomy in treating ITP, but I haven't seen any discussions of personal experiences with these tests. Also, there is a test mentioned in the literature that I don't see discussed anywhere; it's called an "autologous sequestration study" as seen in this article:

Can anyone explain what this is and has anyone tried it?
