Had a quick trip 1/2 hour away this am to collect husband from car dealership. On way home he commented on my disgusting breath (love him) & of course I have a white tongue . . . So am about to mix up a cocktail of yoghurt, garlic, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar . . . :P

Thanks for the nose tips.

Jac - I live in South Australia on beautiful Yorke Peninsula (the only leg Australia has to stand on - look at a map).

Sandi,
I've always wanted to see Topsail Beach. My family has been at the next beach south at Figure 8 Island since 1976, when it was still affordable. Your affection for seahorses reminded me of catching one in the surf there; the water was crystal clear, and I spotted it hiding in a bunch of Sargasso weed that had drifted away from the gulf stream. I held it cupped in my hand a little while before letting it go. Very mystical creature; did you know, the female seahorse impregnates the male seahorse and the male carries the eggs in his tail? How cool is that?

Yes, I am aware of their procreation abilities. I have always wanted to have some in a tank, but they require so much work I'm afraid I'd just kill them. I didn't do all that well with plain old tropical fish.

Back to your yeast cocktail .. I'm sitting here with a white tongue etc and getting sick of taking nystatin. Do you have a recipe for that yeast spread?

I'm with you on the pred fog brain too. I am so forgetful and keep doing stupid things. Today I had trash in 1 hand and $50 in the other to give to my son for groceries and so I throw the money away and take the trash and hand it to my son.

We Aussies are a weird bunch! And Vegemite is definitely an acquired taste.

Ingredients: Yeast extract (from yeast grown on Barley, salt, mineral salt (508), malt extract (from barley)colour (150c), flavours, niacin, thiamine, riboflavin, folate.

dru - avoid the yeast! Thrush loves sugar & yeast.
Yes, I have to keep reminding myself the pred. is the lesser of the evils in my case. Just wish I insisted on a lower dose. I hate what it does to my whole body & know it will take a long time to recover.
Today I am going to attempt to chew a whole raw garlic clove - mouth is disgusting. Had a plain yoghurt/fruit smoothie for breakfast & taking double probiotics.

This morning I likened my immune system to a bully in the playground, chasing platelets. Along comes big Pred. & the bully sulks & won't co-operate. Meanwhile the platelets are going 'he he he' on the swings! And I feel like I am on the merry-go-round!

Rob:

I like Topsail because of the private beaches and the oceanfront rentals. I'd live there if I could. We love the little shops and visit the same ones every year. It's one week when we don't have to do anything but sit and watch the ocean. That is my kind of vacation!

We take our dogs and they love it too. Our little one is like an otter jumping in and out of the water...she grins the entire week.

Sandi, that sounds divine.
Although we live in a coastal town it is not a holiday as such - life goes on. And we have absolutely nothing in the way of cafe's, shops etc. Only 300 population that triples for fishing on holiday dates.
Had dinner with friends last night who advised & encouraged us on our camping trip. For once we are going to 'go with the flow' & see where the track leads us. Can't believe it's been 4 years since we last 'swagged it'.

Oh, way to go!!
We have been dreaming of exploring the Kimberleys for over 30 years - hopefully next year we'll manage to get away for the length of time needed. Very hard to take extended time away from farming committments.

MJ,

Just go and do it! Little will the fields remember or remark about you having holiday!

You and your husband go and enjoy!

Well campfires aren't enough therapy . . .
Platelet count down to 55 - have been tapering pred. down to 10mg. Was hoping to be off them soon, but perhaps need to go a bit longer.

MJ,

I was going to drop you a note but you posted! 55 is not too bad. I have only seen that right after IVIG. Don't worry yourself about that number. No symptoms?

What have you been up to lately? We are getting tomatoes, peppers, and squash out of the garden. Good size and flavor but not too much fruit. Husband and everyone else doing well?

Jeffrey,
As usual you provide the makings of a BIG smile! Thank you.
All good, except the foggy, weird pred. effects. People ask me how I feel & I'm at a loss to explain - it's so strange & they just don't get it . . .
Today I am looking after my 2 year grandson while his mum (mom) is teaching Physical Education at our local Lutheran School - 180 kids. He is gorgeous, & I am enjoying every moment while it lasts. Older brother is now reluctant to hug :( even though I insist!
The sun is shining at last, the wind is blowing the washing dry, & gs is having a nap. What more could I want??
Picking snow peas, cos lettuce, kale & baby spinach.
Greg is out at the farm - today they are pouring a concrete slab for grain silos.
I'm not overly fussed with 55, just disappointed it drops so quickly. Hoping it will settle back around 30 as it has in the past.
